Ciqikou Ancient Town

Ciqikou Ancient Town is located on the banks of the Jialing River in the Shapingba District of Chongqing, with the river to the east, Shapingba to the south, Tongjiqiao to the west, and Shijingpo to the north, just 3 kilometers from the main urban area. The town features a unique landscape of "one river, two streams, three mountains, and four streets." Mount Ma'anshan is situated in the center, with Jinchishan on the left and Phoenix Mountain on the right, all three mountains in view. The Phoenix and Qingshui streams meander and converge, while the Jialing River flows in from the north, creating a natural good harbor.

Ciqikou Ancient Town was established during the Song Dynasty and served as an important water and land port on the banks of the Jialing River. It was once bustling with activity, described as "thousands of people bowing during the day and ten thousand bright lanterns at night," earning it the nickname "Little Chongqing." In 1998, the State Council designated Ciqikou Ancient Town as a key protected traditional street in Chongqing, and in 2010 it was selected as a Chinese historical and cultural street, having preserved its character through a thousand years of change.
